Offering flex time options is an important strategy when it comes to attracting and keeping employees. Many want a positive work-life balance, so why are they afraid to take advantage?

There is a major stigma that comes with taking advantage of these options. Known as the flexibility stigma, your employees may feel they will be seen as less dedicated for using the flex time you offer.

How can you help your employees realize they are valuable to you either way?

Express your understanding and lead by example.

When someone takes advantage of your flexible policies, commend that employee for doing what they need. Do not openly berate any employee who needs that time to better their whole life.

If you show your encouragement for those employees, it is less likely others will fear your judgment.
