The gig economy is in full force. Those who work gig jobs driving for Lyft or Uber have actually accumulated enough power to stand up for their income.

Sourcing poor work conditions and pay rates, drivers in big cities are planning a strike this week to send a message to ‘the man.’

NYC drivers are asking for better incomes, first of all. They demand, and deserve, 80%+ of the proceeds. If successful, this is a step forward for underpaid gig workers everywhere!

How can gig workers take advantage of this stand in their own field?

The gig economy tends to come with the stigma of also having to accept budgetized work. I have seen people rate workers poorly for asking fair prices.

Basically, would you pay more for your next writer? How about your freelance graphic designer? That man who built your website? Are you willing to pay fair wages?
