A Rhode Island school district was not taking lunch debt lightly. Students who owed money were being denied actual meals, and they were given a basic sandwich in its place. When one entrepreneur offered money to help pay off student lunch debts, they rejected the donation. Now Chobani’s CEO has stepped in.
Because of the policy and news attention they have received, the school district reversed their decision. In the meantime Hamdi Ulukaya of Chobani wants to help. As a parent, he feels all children deserve a good meal. The best advice any entrepreneur could offer another is:
“Business must do its part.. our responsibility as members of community. who will join us?”
The quote, directly from the CEO’s tweet, is a reminder to all of us that we should pay it forward. You never know what one hand up could do for another. Helping your community is the best bet.
What can you do to help your little piece of the world?
