Recently Mountain Dew released a new ad campaign that failed to recognize one big feature:
The U.P. belongs to Michigan, not Wisconsin!
Michigander’s, more specifically Yooper’s, spoke up loud and fast to correct their error. Just as quickly, Mountain Dew apologized by announcing a special edition U.P. Dew!
This may mean very little to the rest of the United States (or world), but I am a proud Michigander. As such, I want this message to be heard.
If you make a big mistake, fix it! Apologizing and taking action to correct those errors are the 2 biggest steps in reputation protection.
Also, a little more research into an ad campaign may be needed. Mistakes like this are easy to avoid.
What do you think happened to the person who approved this geographical mistake?!
