Knit Surgical Mask Outcome

Thanks to Covid-19, masks are becoming a fashion statement.

Have you seen the ones people are making?!

Not to say I am jumping on any bandwagons, there is a need for them and I found a pattern from Vicki Mann at Etsy for this surgical mask.

It came out a little big. Whether that is a misinterpretation of the pattern or it is correct, I am not sure. Either way, first try – first outcome.

If there is one thing those of us with craft skills can do, it is innovate. We adjust to almost any need. Right now it is face masks.

I can tell you that I do like the larger coverage area, and the full tie-on in back that this pattern offers. It is not just an ear loop design like so many simpler projects have.

After I make one for my daughter, I will decide whether I will make more for donation. I am still unsure considering how time consuming this one mask was. The tight stitching also makes it harder for me to handle the project. It adds to the time spent making it (and some very sore fingers).
