I used to make this teddy bear years ago. He is a cute, simple pattern that makes a great little gift for new parents. The pattern I recently found actually tells you the gage for different yarn types.
Like my bears of the past, this bear is using a baby yarn and size 2 needles to form his little body. The bear is garter stitch for the entire pattern, which makes him great for a beginner.
This simple bear is a great way to take a break during larger projects. As I still work on my poncho, my bear gives me some more immediate satisfaction as I get tired of one project and work on one part of him instead. He helps break up the monotony.
If you need ideas as to what to do with your new friend, I recommend donating him and his pals to the maternity ward of your local hospital for newborns (while you are at it, throw in some newborn hats!)
The pattern I linked is free for all as long as you do not sell it. This little guy is intended for friends, family, or charity only.
