Sometimes that is just how the ball drops… or the marble rolls… or, just pick a metaphor!

Today, I set up an empowering boundary. Today, I walked away from call center contracting with intention.

I have a busy schedule, and the overwhelm gets real… real quick. Monday and Tuesday were disasters for me. I was trying to run a business and go to school full-time while attending the four-hour sessions with e-learning.

I’d say it would involve 6-8 solid unpaid hours of work. I wasn’t upset about the money aspect because that is one aspect of contracting I knew about. Ultimately, I was only required to spend 60 hours on the phone. That would provide some income while I continued to grow my business.

I woke up to an email telling me that I needed to finish the partial module before 10 am. I realized I couldn’t exist on their schedule. I was too ingrained in my business and education. Their schedule would mess up what I had already built.

I am building with intention, not pivoting to full-time customer service. So, I essentially sent a thank you, no thank you.

No, thank you. I am a full-time business owner in a field that represents my educational successes.

No, thank you. There are smaller opportunities I can utilize with more profitable requirements. After all, these requirements were only financially beneficial once I started taking active calls. Even then, it was $.31 per active minute. I know from experience that a 30 minute commit might only provide 5-10 minutes of paid time.

That can be a little rough at best.

Was it a good entry-level opportunity for home-based income? Sure! If I hadn’t gone through school and grown a business, as I am now, it would have been a good starting point for a little income while expanding. Unfortunately, my stage of life outgrew their requirements.

I fully understand their point of view, too. They are working for a contracting company, training people for a third-party opportunity. Their client has requirements that must be met.

As a business owner, I respect that point thoroughly.

It just, simply put, is not the right opportunity for me.

With that, I walked away, and my mental health improved 10-fold.

Fire stress today!

That became the topic up for discussion on my social media today! That is what I wish to represent. Finding balance in business and life. You have one life to live. Sure, you need to earn money to survive. You also need to balance what you are and are not mentally capable of handling. You need to push ahead with intention.

I am pushing ahead with intention. I am building success and will find other small ways to make extra money while my business grows. I’ll do so without overextending myself. Not all opportunities are a good fit for you, or the opportunity itself.

Today, I chose to empower myself and embrace mental wellness. What did you do for yourself today?
