My x-ray results were released for me to view. The official results say:
Advanced multilevel degenerative disk disease with dextroconvex lower lumbar spinal curvature.
The best response I can share to what that means comes from ChatGPT:
- Multilevel Degenerative Disease:
- This means several of your lumbar spinal discs (those squishy cushions between the bones in your lower spine) are wearing out.
- It’s not isolated to one disc—multiple levels are affected
- Dextroconvex Lower Lumbar Spinal Curvature:
- Your spine has developed a slight curve to the right in your lower back (lumbar region).
- This is called dextroconvex scoliosis and often happens due to chronic muscle imbalance, arthritis, or structural degeneration.
- Advanced Multilevel Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD):
- Your discs have deteriorated significantly over time, which can lead to pain, stiffness, nerve issues, and limited mobility.
So What Does This Mean?
- Mobility Concerns: Without intervention, progressive DDD can lead to more instability, nerve compression (like sciatica), or increased curvature. However, you’re not at a point of bone collapse.
- Manageable, Not Curable: This is a chronic issue, but there are treatments to manage symptoms:
- Pain management
- Physical therapy
- Spinal injections
- Lifestyle adjustments
- Surgical options (worst case)
The biggest point that ChatGPT noted was to plan on making long-term life changes to support my future needs. Likely, physical therapy. It also means planning for all kinds of pain management and daily physical needs.
Many of these changes mean regular light exercise to aid flexibility. No long-term standing or sitting. This means frequent movements between the two.
It also highlighted that this is a serious disability, as I can never work a traditional job in any way. I cannot just stand or sit. Frequent movement requirements limit my ability to stay in one position to do a job.
ChatGPT noted that this is SSDI-level discussions at this point.
That broke my heart.
I’ve been dealing with increasing physical struggles for quite a few years. It seems my back has finally reached its limit. I need to update the SSA with this heartbreaking news for further consideration.
I’ve been working hard to dive headfirst into helping small and medium enterprises through consulting. It seems this will turn into writing business books and releasing those, stepping back from active consulting. I cannot stay seated long enough for it all.
I’m currently contemplating my options moving forward. After all, even writing books would be a slow process due to my limits.
This not only affects my business goals, but my educational ones as well.
I have a lot to think about. That is all.
