A few notable things have happened over the past few weeks. As you are aware, I haven’t written in a while. Let me say life has been hectic. Then the cat distribution system decided it hadn’t been busy enough and dropped a malnourished, sick kitten at my door too.

The kitten in question is the one in the photos. He has been named Radar.

Let’s Start With Radar, Because Kittens Make Life Better…

If by better, you mean chaotic. Then yes!

I’m kidding, of course. He has been a little beacon of joy and whimsy in my life. He showed up very sick. He had multiple infections; I could see his ribs and spine, and what I didn’t see were the worms and ear mites.

I managed to get permission to bring him inside so I could clean him up and make him comfortable while I figured out what to do with the little guy.

My boyfriend recently had some medical issues and a procedure to put in a stent because he had an 80% aortic blockage. My life had been a whirlwind of making sure all of his needs were met. Then I came home to see this little floof on my doorstep just crying endlessly.

After bathing him and feeding him, he slept on my chest for hours. He was curled into my chest, tucked slightly under my top. I don’t think he had eaten in a while, and clearly hadn’t felt safe. He rested like no other.

I fell for that little face and named him for his giant satellite ears and the white tip on the end of his black tail.

Radar.

Now I have a new kitten and an unhappy Lily. Lily doesn’t like other cats. She really doesn’t like kittens. He has been isolated for 2 weeks because of how sick he was, and I am just waiting on vet clearance when he goes in on Tuesday before he fully integrates.

In the meantime…

Radar has warmed up to me quite a bit. He went from mildly skiddish to the most loving little floof. He loves cuddles. He is a hyperactive little guy who loves to play. He sleeps between my boyfriend and me every night.

I have to greet him every morning or else he gets flustered. He requires all the affection until he is ready to move on. He gets a container of soft food each morning. You can no longer feel, let alone see, his bones! He is getting up to a healthy weight. He saw the vet 2 days after I found him, and he is now done with his antibiotics. He is much healthier in that respect. He goes back on Tuesday for a follow-up and kitten vaccines. He is genuinely quite healthy now.

I watched him go from extremely lethargic to the most energetic boy I had ever seen. He likes to lie down behind my fish tanks and watch my fish while he falls asleep.

He is a wonderful addition to my life.

J’apprends le français. (I am learning French.)

Oui ! Comprenez-vous le français ? (Yes! Do you understand French?)

I paid for a full year of Duolingo. I even paid extra so I could practice conversationally through the app, not just the lessons. I really want to improve my language skills. I have tried learning French multiple times since I was a teenager. I’d only get so far and quit. The last time I tried, I used Duolingo and progressed more than ever before! I am going to crack down and keep trying.

I thought it would give me something manageable yet flexible enough to accommodate my health.

Speaking Of My Health…

I went for my follow-up appointment at the allergy/asthma center. I explained to the doctor where I saw benefits, but also the areas where I was still struggling.

Mainly, I cannot breathe when I am in motion or when it is warm/humid. It feels like my throat is closing up on me. He didn’t care that I didn’t have a history of asthma; he decided to treat me for it anyway.

Thank goodness he has.

I haven’t started Singulair yet, but I have been using my rescue inhaler before bed, and I am no longer having the nighttime struggles I was having. I am not wheezing through my BiPAP anymore. I am resting better and not waking constantly because I am having a hard time breathing.

I am going to try to pick up my Singulair today so I can start using it tonight. The reason I don’t have it yet is due to the pharmacy. They shut down early yesterday, and it wasn’t ready until yesterday.

I have been dealing with this for years. The joy I feel right now is unimaginable without experiencing it yourself.

Au revoir, mes amis. À la prochaine. (Goodbye, my friends. Until next time.)

I hope you have a great day, everyone. I should probably run off and do things. You know—life and all. I will end this by saying that I made $35 selling a bunch of craft supplies and miscellaneous things I had sitting around but never used. A lot of the craft stuff was from hobbies I no longer practiced. It felt good to give them a new life and add a little extra to my future craft budget!

Merci, mes amis ! (Thank you, my friends!)
