Arius is my bubble-nesting, resting, very chill betta. When I decided to buy some red root floaters to put in my tanks, his tank was the main one that came to my mind. When I put them in his tank around 3 weeks ago, it only covered 1/3rd of the water surface.
As you can see, that changed a bit.
Yesterday, I was looking to see why his moss-covered coconut shell cave wasn’t as green, and realized that the entire surface had floaters. Of course, it is losing some color! It’s not getting enough light now!
Arius Loves His Red Root Floaters

This boy loves to sit in the roots and use them for balance. He will just float there inside them, happy as can be. He also loves to make his bubble nests between the leaves and under them.
My favorite is when he starts pushing around the plants to arrange them the way he wants. He is over here playing interior designer with his environment!

He is a good-natured betta with a lot of personality. He loves having real plants, too! I managed to remove all fake decor in his tank and give him only living decor. His personality shone through after I graced him with a living environment.
I think my favorite thing is when he stops to “listen” while I talk to him, often scanning me with those little black eyes at the same time.
I don’t know what he can see of me through the glass. I also do not know how he receives sounds.
(Vibrations in the water?)
I just know he is quite interactive with me, smart, and loves his decor.
I also know that I need to remove some of his red root floaters to grace some of my other tanks. Because, well, a blanket of floaters is going to kill his other plants if I am not careful.
Aquarist life is quite enjoyable.
